This season of love is about spending special time with those you care about. The air is full of kind gestures and the sweet smells of the season. People are going out of their way to show gratitude and affection. So, even though this post is a bit late, here’s how I spent my Thanksgiving Holiday…
Holiday Travel Express (but not really “express”). Spending time with my brother from Los Angeles! McDonald’s for dinner (don’t judge). Bizarre warm Thanksgiving Eve weather – 70 degrees. Rain. Sleet. Snow mixture by Thanksgiving morning. Cooking at midnight! Pumpkin Crisp. Chocolate Four Layer Delight. A Hearty breakfast. Eggs. Bacon. Biscuits. The turkey arrives (we were worried)! More cooking. Dinner is served. Dressing. Gravy. Cranberry sauce (jelled). Yams. Green Peas. Corn. Deviled Eggs. Potato Salad. Veggie Salad. Smoked Links. Beef Brisket. Fried Turkey. Mac and Cheese. Rolls. Reisling. Arbor Mist. Crown Royal (not me, my aunt). Beer and more beer (not me, the men). Family. Fun. Naps and more games.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I enjoy spending time with family and friends while preparing and devouring a delicious feast. Food is a common denominator that draws people together near and far. Food serves as the soundtrack (or maybe it should be the “taste” track) that offers an annual celebration of the gratefulness around us each day.
What were your favorite moments, memories, food items of the holidays? What are you most grateful for in your life?
Looks like a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Hope your running is going well.
